Former National Poetry Slam Champion, Pete “the Temp” Bearder, brings to life the poetic movements that have shaped history. Find out why wordsmiths always been vilified, feared and revered, from the ballad singers and Beat poets, to the icons of dub, punk and hip hop.

Pete is an award-winning spoken word poet, author and comic. His work has been featured on BBC Radio 4, The World Service, and Newsnight. This show follows the release of his ground-breaking new book Stage Invasion: Poetry & the Spoken Word Renaissance.​

Tahira Rehman is a Performance-Poet and an Outreach support worker in Leeds. She started performing at the end of 2018 and has headlined at festivals and award-winning nights such as Spoken Weird, Punk in Drublic and Cellar Stories at the Lawrence Batley theatre.

Her poetry has been published in the US by Our Verse Magazine and Soul-Lit and locally by Make Our Rights Reality Charity. She is also the author of Mirages to Reality and 'Inspirational Quotes From The Journey Of Reality.' She also hosts the Tahira Rehman Poet Show which an be accessed on

Kate Fox is a Whitley Bay based stand up poet who is a regular on Radio 4 & Radio 3’s The Verb. She’s been Poet in Residence for the Great North Run, Glastonbury Festival and Tour de Yorkshire.

She’s toured and performed shows about Northern English women, Doctor Who’s connection to autism, being in-between social classes and not wanting children.

Books include The Oscillations (Nine Arches, 2021) and Chronotopia (Burning Eye, 2017). She occasionally pops up doing poems on telly, and surreally captained Loughborough University’s Christmas University Challenge team in 2020 which was the weirdest end to the weirdest year. She has completed a PhD about comedy and Northernness, and was a contributor to the recent academic book “Spoken Word in the UK”.
